If you like Twitter, you’ll love this browser shortcut

Just to clarify, bit.ly is a popular and usful link shortening service. It’s used mainly for social media services that limit users to a certain number of characters- Twitter, most commonly.

Oftentimes you might want to include a link with your Twitter post. It’s important to leave yourself the maximum amount of space to write about your link and encourage your followers to click on the link.

This is what it looks like on your browser:

How it works:

Let’s say you’re on a page that you want to share to Twitter or Facebook. All you have to do is click the bit.ly icon pictured above. Clicking the icon is like taking a screen shot of the page you’re on except it captures the page link and shortens it for you.

It might take a few seconds, but then bit.ly will prompt you with a box that contains your link and allows you to add text with your link.

I only have my Twitter account activated so this link will share to my Twitter feed without me having to leave the page I’m on.

Pretty slick huh?
