It’s been almost exactly one year since I started running “full-time” again. (Prior to Jan. 1, 2013, I was only running off-and-on.)
My goal for 2013 was to run 500 miles and complete a half marathon. I ended up going above and beyond my own expectations, completing two full marathons (no half yet) and running 1,000 miles.
It was a great year of running for me! I lost 30 pounds, and having suffered a mid-summer hip injury, which halted my training for six weeks, I learned about injury prevention techniques and the importance of listening to my body. Most importantly, though, I fell in love with the sport of running all over again.
In 2014, I plan to continue logging 100-plus miles monthly in preparation for the marathons I want to run, and although I don’t necessarily have a milage goal, I think 1,500 is quite attainable.
